2nd baby = mellow(er) Mom

When you have your first child, and it comes time to feed him, you read lots of things about the proper "order" of things. First rice cereal for a while, to make sure there are no allergies. Then oatmeal. Or a veggie. No fruits before veggies, because then your kid will hate veggies. Then only one new food at a time, to be sure that if there is an allergic reaction that you know what it is. Blah, blah, blah. That's no fun. It's what we did with Sam, but it's no fun. With Parker we're having fun. Partly because we were forced to. The little bugger refused to eat baby food for a while. It's amazing how strong he can purse his lips and how quickly he can knock a spoonful of food onto the floor! So we were forced to give him "real" food. Cheerios, of course, are a staple. Cheese, yogurt, soup, green bean casserole, beef stew, noodles, clementines, tacos (just the insides), pasta, meatballs, pancakes and sausage at the church pancake supper, and last night Parker had steak!! Not just steak, but filet mignon. With steak sauce. Seriously, why SHOULDN'T a 10 month old eat filet mignon? We were calling him "filet mamuch." I just wish I had been here to see it, but alas, I was at my 5-weekly hair maintenance appointment.

  1. Welcome to blogging! Love to read the posts about your great little family - between this and Facebook, it's been a wonderful glimpse into your daily life.

As for the 2nd child - I agree. With Lindsey, we were beyond careful; with Lauren, it was "what the heck? Let's give a try!" 8 years later, she's no worse for the wear.

    Keep on writing!

  2. Could the Mamuch get any more delicious? And to think he eats all this wonderful food with only one tooth and gums.
